Knox Area Golf Charities Announces Charity Ticket Program for 2008 Knoxville Open

Knoxville, TN (January 29, 2008) – Knox Area Golf Charities, the foundation of the Knoxville Open presented by Food City, is now accepting applications from 501(c)(3) charities to help raise money by participating in the tournament’s new Charity Ticket Program.

Knox Area Golf Charities will choose up to 50 charities to participate in the program. The selected organizations will be given the opportunity to sell $25 Weekly (General Admission) tickets and retain 100 percent of the proceeds. As part of the program, each charity will also be encouraged to recruit as many volunteers as possible.
          

The one-page application is available online at http://www.knoxvilleopen.com/tickets.asp. All completed applications must be turned into Knox Area Golf Charities by 5 p.m., EST, February 29, 2008. Charities will be selected by March 7, 2008, and notified by mail.

“This is an opportunity to get multiple charities involved in benefiting from the Knoxville Open.  Our main goal is to benefit charities though the management of the Knoxville Open” said Jim Wakefield, Tournament Chairman. “This is a great way to support them financially. The Charity Tickets program provides charity organizations the opportunity to raise money. The more tickets they sell, the more money they make.”

The 2008 Knoxville Open presented by Food City will be played June 16-22, 2008, at Fox Den Country Club.
The Knoxville Open is one of four original stops left on the Nationwide Tour.  The professional winner of the overall 72-hole event will take home $90,000 from the total purse of $500,000.
