HISTORY

The Knoxville Open Presented by Food City is one of the four original events of the Nationwide Tour. Since its inception in 1990, the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley (BGCTNV) have been the benefiting charity, receiving more than $1,000,000 from the event. The tournament, now being operated by Knox Area Golf Charities, will continue to support Knoxville area charities.

The tournament has had three homes over the past 19 years, including Willow Creek GC (1990-94), Three Ridges GC (1995-98), and Fox Den Country Club (1999-present).

Prominent winners of the Knoxville Open have included:

  • Jeff Maggert (1990)
  • 2006 Ryder Cup team members Vaughn Taylor (2003) and J.J. Henry (2000)
